– TEEN ARRESTED IN LONDON OVER ISLAMIC TERROR
A 15-year-
old British girl has been arrested, on Thursday 07/02/2015 early morning, on suspicion of terror offences following a swoop at an address in East London.
She was arrested on suspicion of preparation of terrorism under Section Five of the Terrorism Act and taken to a police station in central London for questioning.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Officers from the MPS Counter Terrorism Command (SO15) have this morning, 2 July, attended an address in east London and arrested a 15-year old girl on suspicion of preparation of terrorism.
“She is currently in custody at a central London police station pending further enquiries “a Scotland Yard spokesman said .
Her arrest comes just hours after West Midlands Police said a woman from Staffordshire had been charged with inciting terrorism and being a member of the Islamic State.
The 26-year-old from Burton on Trent is accused of sending tweets encouraging others to “commit, prepare or instigate” terrorism and being a member of the banned organisation between 10/2014 and 01/2015.
She was arrested at Heathrow Airport in February as she stepped off a flight from Turkey and is due to appear in court today.
** Section Five of the Act “prohibits anyone from engaging in any conduct in preparation for an intended act of terrorism”.
