U.S AIRSTRIKE TARGETED MILITANTS IN WESTERN LIBYA
A building, where foreign workers were living, was hit in the Qasr Talil district.
According to Colonel Mark Cheadle, a spokesman for the Pentagon’s Africa Command, the airstrikes targeted a senior Tunisian militant, Noureddine Chouchane (pic), linked to the attacks of 2015 in Tunisia: one on a resort hotel in the city of Sousse and the other on Bardo Museum in the capital, Tunis, claimed by the Libyan branch of the Islamic State .
ISIS militants from Tunisia are believed to have been trained in camps near Sabratha, which is located close to the border, according to Tunisian security sources. It is not clear yet whether Noureddine Chouchane is among the deads .
** Serbia’s foreign minister said, on Saturday 02/20/2016, 2 Serbian embassy staffers who had been held hostage since 11/2015 are believed to have been killed in Friday’s U.S. airstrikes on an Islamic State camp in western Libya.
