– AMERICAN INFORMENT JAMAL AL-FADL

Jamal Ahmed Mohamed Al-Fadl was born in Sudan in 1963. He moved to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 1981. In 11/1986 Jamal Al-Fadl arrived to USA and attended the Al Farook Mosque in Brooklyn, New York, run by Mustafa Shalabi.  In 1988, Jamal Al-Fadl was recruited to the war in Afghanistan through the Al Farook Mosque and “Al Kifah” association.

In Peshawar, Pakistan, Jamal Al-Fadl went to Khalid Ibn Walid camp for training in small arms and rocket-propelled grenades. He fought in at least one battle, shooting at Russian helicopters with an RPG.

Jamal Al-Fadl was operating through Maktab al-khidamat with the future leaders of Al Qaeda and helped to raise funds for the organization. He functioned as an international operative, moving from country to country in support of Islamic cause. In 1991 Jamal Al-Fadl arrived to Egypt to facilitate the relocation of Osama Bin Laden and his close staff in Sudan.  Around 1993, Jamal Al-Fadl was involved in Al Qaeda’s apparently unsuccessful attempt to purchase uranium in Sudan.

Jamal Al-Fadl, acted as a business agent for Maktab al-khidamat but resented receiving a salary of only $500 a month while some of the Egyptians in Al Qaeda were given $1,200 a month. Osama Bin Laden discovered, in early 1996, that Jamal Al-Fadl had skimmed about $110,000 and asked for restitution. Jamal Al-Fadl then defected and became a key informant for the United States.

Jamal Al-Fadl contacted the CIA via the United States’ Eritrea embassy. He returned (after staying in Germany for a while) to the United States, in spring 1996.

From December 1996 Jamal Al-Fadl began to provide “a major breakthrough of intelligence on the creation, character, direction, and intentions of Al Qaeda”; “Bin Laden, the CIA learned, had planned multiple terrorist operations and aspired to more”. Jamal Al-Fadl, who had “passed the polygraph tests he was given” became a key witness in the US v. Bin Laden trial that began in 02/2001 in absentia – according to his CIA and FBI handlers.

Jamal Al-Fadl was taken on as a key prosecution witness, who along with a number of other sources claimed that Osama Bin Laden was the leader of a large international terror network named Al Qaeda.

Jamal Al-Fadl was described by his handlers as an “incessant troublemaker” who suffered severe emotional mood swings, a womanizer and financial schemer. He married twice: in United States and in Sudan.
