SECURITY OFFICIAL IN LEBANON TARGETED
 Nine days after US ambassador’s convoy was targeted by a car bomb in the Northern outskirt of Beirut, Captain Wisam Eid, a specialist in internet and electronics usage unit in the Lebanese Security services and deeply involved in the investigation of the previous assassination of the Army Gen’ Francois al-Hajj on 12/12/2007, was killed, today 01/25/2008 noon, by a car bomb in the Christian neighborhood of Hazmieh in Beirut. 9 more people were killed in the blast.
An unidentified body was found in the car bomb, which raises the question if the attack was a suicide attack or the body was trapped in the car when the car was detonated by remote control. There is also a question if Captain Wisam Eid, the victim, was really such an important figure in the Lebanese security apparatus to be assassinated or was there a mistake in the identification of the target and the attack was meant for another person.
One thing remains clear - political assassination of anti Syrians in Lebanon or of security officials who might reveal Syrian involvement in Lebanese political affairs - is going on in full gear.
