DIPOLMATIC DEFEAT FOR SYRIA
Today 03/29/2008 the Arab League summit convenes in Damascus, Syria, with only 11 from 22 head of states or Prime Ministers attending the Summit. Majority of the Middle East leaders abstain from the Summit while most of the states leader present in the summit come from the Maghreb – North Africa or Sudan. Leading countries such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Yemen sent only low rank officials while Lebanon boycotts the summit.
There is a deep controversy in the Middle East among Arab countries about the Role of Syria in promoting Iranian interest on the expense of Arab interests in Iraq and Lebanon and by foiling, systematically, also in full coordination with Iran, any prospect of political progress in the ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN conflict.
The Damascus summit is a slap in the face of Syria and this time nobody in the Arab world blames Israel or the Mossad, for a change. The Arab world has a much more serious conflict then the conflict with Israel – the conflict with Iran. (See -Damascus-Summit)
