TOHIR & ISMAIL
 Masrizal bin Ali Umar, known as Tohir, was born in 1974 and was one of the five most senior activists of the INDONESIAN JI in South-East. He is considered one of the perpetrators of the Marriott Hotel attack, on 08/05/2003.
On 10/29/2003, Masrizal - Tohir was arrested 225 km East of Jakarta, in the town of Cirebon in East Java with his accomplice known as Ismail alias Ricky Putranto, 26. They were equipped with weapons, ammunition and 6 home made bombs ready for use. Tohir is suspected of helping plan the Marriott Hotel attack and Ismail of buying the vehicle used in the blast.
The two suspects, Tohir & Ismail, provided police with information on the whereabouts of two top JI leaders: Dr. Azahari Husin and Noordin Mohammed Top, two Malaysian explosives experts who are among South-East Asia's list of most wanted terrorists.
On 11/03/2003 Tohir & Ismail appeared in the Indonesian TV channel SCTV and expressed remorse for the Marriott attack.
On 09/02/2004 Masrizal bin Ali Umar – Tohir was found guilty of buying the truck used in the August 2003 bombing of the Jakarta Marriott Hotel and transporting 100 kilograms of explosives. Tohir was acquitted on another charge of planning the Marriott Hotel attack. He was sentenced to 10 years in jail.
On 09/16/2004 Ismail alias Ricky Putranto was sentenced to 12 years in prison for his role in the Marriott attack.
