Abu Jibril
 Mohammed Iqbal Abdurraham known as Abu Jibril was born in 1957 in the village of Tirpas-Selong, Central Java, the breeding ground of many Indonesian Islamic militants. Abu Jibril was a Darul Islam member and is the older brother of Irfan Awwas. He, his younger brother Irfan Awwas and a third member, known as Muchliansyah were students in the Al-Mukmin boarding school in Ngruki, Central Java which Abu Bakar Bashir, the future spiritual leader of the INDONESIAN JI, co-founded with Abdullah Sungkar.
Following the 1985 crackdown of Suharto’s regime on Islamic militants, who advocated the formation of an Islamic state in Indonesia, Abu Jibril fled Indonesia to Malaysia.
In 1998 after the fall of Suharto’s regime, Abu Jibril returned to Indonesia. According to Malaysian intelligence sources Abu Jibril is a close aid of Abu Bakar basher and in charge of the INDONESIAN JI treasury and money management and was fully coordinated with Hambali.
Abu Jibril became the most influential recruiter for the INDONESIAN JI in Eastern Indonesia and Maluku islands and inciter against USA and the Western Democracies. His preaching eventually helped to flame the Christmas 2000 eve attacks.
In 06/2001 Abu Jibril was arrested in Malaysia after he has been implicated in crimes committed by the Kumpulan Mujahidin – KMM when the authorities cracked down on Islamic militants in the country.
In 01/2003 Abu Jibril was designated by USA as a terrorist and his assets were frozen in USA (a symbolic move since Abu Jibril had no assets in USA). In 2004 Abu Jibril was released from Malaysian jail and returned to Indonesia. Indonesian authorities claim they have no evidence Abu Jibril has committed a crime in the country.
Today (08/2009) Abu Jibril is an Imam in a suburb Mosque of Indonesia’s capital – Jakarta.
 * On Tuesday 08/25/2009 the Indonesian police arrested his son Mohammad Jibril, 29, alias Muhammad Ricky Ardhan, for being involved in the Jakarta Hotels Bombing, on 07/17/2009. Mohammad Jibril, an owner of a web site in which he named himself "prince of Jihad", is said to have been an accomplice of Saudi Arabian national Ali Muhammad Abdullah, who was arrested, on 08/13/2009, for allegedly channeling foreign funds into Indonesia for the twin bombings (see - Jakarta Investigation).
In a news conference at the Al Munawarah Mosque, in Pamulang, near Jakarta, on the next day, Wednesday 08/26/2009, Abu Jibril insisted his son is innocent and was actually kidnapped by police rather then arrested.
