The Kuala Lumpur terror Convention
On 01/03/2000 a convention took place in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, with some of the people that become later key figures in the global Jihad and Islamist terror. Among the participants Riduan Isamuddin - nickname Hambali, Dhiren Barot - nickname Abu Esa al-Hindi, Yazid Sufaat, Ramzi Binalshibh, Tawfiq bin Attash , Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid al-Mihdhar, Fahd al-Quso and others. The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the relation between Al Qaeda, based mainly on Arabs, and the south Asians groups, as Abu Sayyaf and INDONESIAN JI , and to coordinate between these two wings of the Global Jihad .
The convention, as well as most of the participants, where under supervision of the local security service and the CIA.
Immediately after the convention, Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid al-Mihdhar flied to Los Angels, USA, but their names as suspects in terror were not passed to the FBI because of the regulations at that time. Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid al-Mihdhar became later hijackers in The 9/11 plot.
Tawfiq bin Attash became the mastermind behinde the attack on the destroyer USS Cole in the port of Aden, Yemen on the 10/12/2000.
