Dr Azahari Husin
 Dr Azahari Husin was born in Malaysia in 1957. From 1970 to 1979 Azahari Husin lived, with his family, in Adelaide, Australia. In 1979 young Azahari Husin moved to UK for technological studies. In late 80s’ Azahari Husin obtained his doctor degree in Reading University in England.
Like many Malay students, Azahari Husin was drawn to the cause of political Islam under the influence of the Iranian Islamic Revolution in 01/1979, led by Ayatollah Khomeini.
1990 was a crucial year for Dr Azahari Husin. He returned to Malaysia, already married and a father of two. He met, in an Islamic school, the Islamic cleric Abu Bakar Bashir, one of the future founders of the INDONESIAN JI . Dr Azahari Husin became also a lecturer at the Technological University of Malaysia in Johor.
Under the influence of Abu Bakar Bashir, Dr Azahari Husin went on to train in Afghanistan and the southern Philippines in the late 1990s, developing a passion for making bombs.
When Dr Azahari Husin was a professor at the Technological University of Malaysia, in 1991, Dr Azahari befriended one of his students - Noordin Mohammed Top.
After the graduation of Noordin Top in 1991, Dr Azahari Husin continued his connections with him. Together they were the most dangerous operation team in the INDONESIAN J.I. Noordin Top was called “The financier” and Dr Azahari Husin “The demolisher” because of his expertise in explosives.
Dr Azahari Husin attended, in 01/2002, the Bangkok Meeting. He was involved in many of the most ostentatious attacks of the organization such as the Bali ‘02 Bombings and Bali 05 Bombings , the Jakarta Marriott Hotel attack in 2003, the AUSTRALIAN Embassy attack in 2004 and others.
Dr Azahari Husin, the top bomb expert of INDONESIAN JI, blew himself up on 11/08/2005, when, after a long man hunt, the Indonesian police closed in on his hiding place in Batu, near Malang in East Java.
